Every now and then, I get the urge to visit the SAAB museum in Trollhättan, which is a fantastic experience. This time I had some teenagers with me, and they really enjoyed it! And maybe that sparks some interest in STEM education…
My family have some close ties to SAAB, many worked there, and my father spent 38 years with the company - he spent his whole career with SAAB, spanning from assembly (and introducing lean principles before those were known to SAAB management, later on and for the most of his career, working in the technical development). As a student, I had the opportunity to work in the SAMBO final assembly, manufacturing engineering and also technical development on powertrain.
SAAB had so much innovation and passion - which also Sandy Munro (Munrolive) realized when I took him and his core entourage there.
At SAAB, as a young engineer, you could get around almost everywhere - I got to make a visit to the design studio when Hareide was the design director (he’s been on my podcast), prototype hall with pre-production, crash center and much more!
The SAAB museum is a great space to explore engineering, technology, innovation, racing, car history, design, concepts, safety and so much more. This is a playground for young and adult kids…
My strong recommendation is to plan for a visit! I will go back again!
