Strolling around in early springtime Berlin, we bumped into Cupra city and enjoyed their concept store (see earlier story). Also, we ended up counting steering wheel buttons. Seventeen was the number, to my remembrance; while many car manufacturers these days go for fancy interactive screens to scroll, tap, and write on, to find the right functions, we had found an example of the counterculture. So how many buttons do you need?
We continued our city walk and close by Cupra, we found a corporate friend, a Porsche pop-up store, displaying the Taycan. The pop-up store was in its’ final days, just as spring started to come to life.
The pop-up marketed itself with “from 0 to WOW in less than a second”. Could it grasp our enthusiasm as quickly? We went for the electrification…
Outside a 911 green cabrio alone greeted us, the lady saw us circling the car, and came out, inviting us into the pop-up, as there were no other people at the time. She insisted that we try sitting in the frog-green Taycan, and I ended up counting buttons on the steering wheel. And it was less than in the extreme Cupra, but still a few.
As a vehicle, the Taycan makes a solid impression, the seat hugs you. Pity I could not go for a drive, to test out all the buttons…
